tom hochOKLAHOMA CITY, USA —Tom Hoch, a pioneer in revenue-based design and turn-key, design-build interior architecture solutions -- has completed "The Pub" at Westwood Country Club, a member-exclusive gathering spot offering an innovative approach to the casual dining experience.

Formerly a 1,450-square-foot, under-utilized meeting and event room, Tom Hoch teamed with The Princeton Companies to create a signature space with several distinctive furnishings and fixtures.

A custom, state-of-the-art media center, maple bar with large pillars, and an antiqued cherry finish combine to produce an authentic New England Pub-style ambiance.

Tom Hoch also designed and crafted pub-style booth seating, featuring custom table tops, black vinyl seating and Burberry plaid.

The Pub complements the existing member dining areas, The Grille Room and Rotunda, which offer both casual and fine dining.

Collectively, the three provide Westwood's members with intriguing mix of food and beverage options and an amenity center that greatly enhances membership value.

"Tom Hoch and The Princeton Companies were incredibly responsive to our vision in designing and building The Pub at Westwood Country Club," says Lynn Roach, the president of Westwood's membership board who spearheaded the project.

"With the firm's unique ability to both design and build-out the space, we were able to fast-track the project and cause minimal disruption for members and their guests."

Casual but energetic

"The space creates an exciting and exclusive pub feel while enhancing the club's revenue stream. Revitalized spaces reinvigorate membership, attract new members through word of mouth and publicity, and position private clubs for future growth and prosperity."

Located just minutes from Tysons Corner and Washington, D.C. in Vienna, Va., Westwood Country Club offers members and guests a full range of dining and recreational facilities. The club has an 18-hole, par-72 golf course, 10 tennis courts and an Olympic-size swimming pool. Featuring a Tom Hoch custom design, the clubhouse interior has endured the test of time and remains widely recognized for its timeless architectural elements and craftsman-style furniture and fixtures.

Other recent U.S. and internationally-based Tom Hoch projects include: The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain (Marana, Arizona); The Members' Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota (Florida); Farm Links Golf Club (Alabama); Renaissance Golf Club (Massachusetts); TPC Valencia (California); Zavidovo Golf and Lake Resort (Russia); and Tulsa Country Club (Oklahoma); multiple projects with Troon Golf; Apes Hill Club (Barbados); and The Abaco Club (Bahamas).

Memorable hospitality

It has created many of the most memorable, engaging and functional spaces in the golf, hospitality and leisure industries, including award-winning, revenue-bolstering projects for leading luxury brands.

ridge at bb -- bar hi resTom Hoch has revolutionized the category via its "revenue-based design" model, a space planning, sizing and mapping process for retail-driven spaces such as golf shops and food-and-beverage operations.

The revenue-based design model can be applied to new construction, and is particularly effective with cost-sensitive remodeling projects. It is scalable and can be utilized with any size space in a wide variety of industries (golf, restaurant, hotel, spa, recreational clubs and more).

Superior views, balanced site lines, privacy, energy, operational efficiency with optimal staffing, exceptional luxury and increased profits are central to Tom Hoch's delivery of a signature, custom interior space that is the lifestyle centerpiece of clubs and communities.

These inviting, comfortable and stunning gathering places are powerful marketing tools for owners, developers, membership directors and real-estate agents. Styles range from classic and neo-classic to contemporary and progressive.

Contracted design work is completed onsite in Tom Hoch's 30,000 square-foot studio, a unique position in the category that leads to increased efficiencies and overall quality.

An "American Craftsman" operation, projects are designed and built by highly skilled artisans, carpenters and designers, and installed by an in-house team with minimal outsourcing. Tom Hoch employs "green building" techniques and practices to deliver spaces and products which are environmentally sensitive.

Hoch's other fine creations include:

Tom Hoch worked in concert with Suzanne Urban, director/principal designer at Studio 4 Design; project director, Richard Frazee and Club ownership to design and build the various specialty built-ins, cabinetry and artisan furniture for the clubhouse interior of this spectacular desert creation.

Highlights include the design and outfitting of the golf shop, custom bar cabinetry, a state of the art wine room, custom wood lockers, and other custom artisan casework pieces. Materials and finishes were selected with careful consideration of the end product in mind.

Men's and women's lockers feature clear western alder faced with brushed nickel hardware. In other areas, black walnut was used in addition to woven leather and naturally weathered granite.

A trusted partner of The Ritz-Carlton, Tom Hoch applied their extensive clubhouse design-build expertise to enable The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain, to achieve and receive an interior design and custom product that complimented the unique design vision while fulfilling the strict performance standards of The Ritz-Carlton.

Tom Hoch created unique interiors that are properly suited to the highest expectations of today's club member, resulting in a luxury golf experience that can connect emotionally with guests and provide a comfortable, stylish place to relax after a round.

THE RIDGE AT BACK BROOK

Ringoes, New Jersey
Square Footage: 20,000
A striking centerpiece of one of New Jersey's highest-rated golf courses - and number eight best private clubhouse in the country - The Ridge at Back Brook's clubhouse employs a rustic theme, borrowing from such regional influences as American Craftsman and Adirondack styles.

Sited only after the Tom Fazio-designed golf course was fit into the idyllic northeastern setting, Tom Hoch crafted an interior for The Ridge at Back Brook that is compatible with its natural environment and augments the panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside and fantastic views of four greens and two tee boxes.

Owner Joel Moore approached Tom Hoch in 2003 with the idea of building a club where all members could have access to great amenities, knowledgeable professionals, and overall, a level of comfort that they couldn't find anywhere else.

Careful research had shown decided differences in the behaviors and needs of both make and female golf or country club members in the area, and Moore wanted a clubhouse that could address and overcome the challenges revealed by that research.

Offering a completely turn-key solution unique to the industry, from pre-design consulting, design and space planning, to build-out and installation of all fixtures, furniture, architectural wood work and cabinetry, Tom Hoch completed the clubhouse within time frames and budget constraints. Using an award-winning revenue-based design approach, Tom Hoch designed and executed a carefully crafted interior space plan that allowed for a delightfully concentrated selection of amenities offerings.

It was this overall plan that aided in The Ridge at Back Brook to be voted as the No. 3 best private clubhouse/locker room in the 2010 edition of Golf World's "Readers' Choice Awards."

Both pine and hickory were used to align the interior ambiance with the exterior appearance. Stripped pine logs, used on the exterior, were also used in the interior design, helping to cement the warm, organic environment that Moore and Tom Hoch had envisioned.

Because of such precise attention to detail, members and guests continue to enjoy this beautifully-cast, Western lodge-style interior even today, while Tom Hoch continues to further support a healthy relationship with The Ridge at Back Brook.
