DUBAI – Tourism Malaysia expects a decision by the Malaysian government to ease entry regulations for maids travelling with their employers to Malaysia to be met with positive response.
It said this should be the case for tourists, especially those from the West Asia market, who often travelled with families and maids.
The new rules went into effect on May 21, the tourism promotion agency said in a statement.
A special pass will be issued without fee to the maids upon entry at the Malaysian immigration counter at all entry points in the country, subject to certain terms and conditions.
Same-time arrival
The statement said the employer must sponsor the maid's visit by completing the form, "Application for Visa on Arrival Imm. 47" at the entry point into Malaysia.
The maid is to enter Malaysia, together with the employer, and not at different times or dates.
It is also stipulated that a visa-on-arrival stamp has to be endorsed on the maid's passport or travel document.
"The maid's duration of visit to Malaysia is to be synchronised with the employer's social visit pass," Bernama quoted Tourism Malaysia as saying.
Prospective visitors are to contact the nearest Malaysian embassy or visit www.imi.gov.my for more information.
