KUALA LUMPUR – Blogger ‘Kickdefella’ has fired another salvo at Kelantan mentri besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat, who had allegedly linked his late father to a so-called conspiracy to topple the state government.
“He was refering to my dad,” said Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Hamid regarding remarks on Thursday by the MB that a certain colonel was behind a move to bring down the state government.
Nik Aziz had alleged that a certain ‘Colonel Mat’ was behind the so-called conspiracy but he did not specifically identify the person by his full name or where he was from.
However, Rantau Panjang MP Abdul Fatah Harun had reportedly defended the mentri besar by saying that ‘Colonel Mat’ was not any specific person and the name was mentioned to merely bring home the point that there was a conspiracy against the PAS leadership in Kelantan.
In his latest blog posting, Syed Azidi said his late father was Lt Col Abdul Aziz, who was popularly known as ‘Syed Amat’ and often refered to as ‘Colonel Mat.’
“He must be the person that Nik Aziz was refering to,” said the blogger, who was sacked last week as Kelantan Mentri Besar Incorporated public relations officer.
“In the kampungs, those who were not close to to him enough to call him Syed Amat, reffered to my dad as Colonel Mat.
Dad was not a full colonel
‘The Colonel Mat that I know was my late father, “ said Syed Azidi, adding that the highest rank that his dad attained in the army was lietunant colonel.
“Although he was never a full ‘colonel’ it was quite normal to hear people calling him ‘colonel.’
“Col Mat was a son of a hospital dresser, Abid Razak, who used to work at the Kota Baru general hospital.
MB also known as 'Ayah Zit'
“Col Mat joined the army before Malaya attained itrs independence. He married a cousin of Nik Aziz, named Tuan Bidah Tuan Long.
“At that time relatoives called Nik Aziz by his nickname, Ayah Zit,” said Syed Azidi, adding that his father passed away on Oct 7, 2003 at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre. He said he and his five siblings were at their father’s side when he died.
On Nov 11, Syed Azidi was sacked from his post by a son-in-law of the mentri besar, Abdul Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman, the chief executive officer of the corporation. - Malaysian Mirror
