SIBU -- The Education Ministry has never marginalised aided Chinese primary schools in Sarawak especially in terms of grant provisions, said Deputy Education Minister Dr Wee Ka Siong .

Rubbishing allegations made by opposition politicians that the government was doing so, he said as a matter of fact, Sarawak received the most grants as compared to other states.

"From 2008 until last year, the Ministry had allocated as much as RM57 million mainly to repair classroom buildings and provide education infrastructure," he said.

He told reporters this after a closed-door dialogue with representatives of the boards of management of such schools from the Sibu, Kapit and Mukah divisions, here on Tuesday.

Last year alone, he said, the ministry had given about RM20 million to Sarawak.

Wee assured that his ministry would continue to co-operate with the schools’ board of management and political leaders in the state in helping such schools.

He added his Ministry had gone through the applications for grant from such schools statweide and it would distribute them by next month.
