BALIK PULAU -- The Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident that strategies formulated by its component parties would help in its bid to wrest back the state currently under DAP leadership, in the 13th General Election.
Its secretary, Dr Hilmi Yahaya, said the party machinery was intensifying going-to-the-ground programmes to reach out and win the hearts of the people.
"Community activities such as the walkabouts will definitely continue to be organised, as well as other strategies that can help BN win back the state," he told Bernama on Friday.
However, Dr Hilmi, who is also Teluk Bahang assemblyman, declined further comment on the strategies.
"We'll tell you when the time comes...we cannot be too hasty or too excited on this," he said, adding that the Penang BN had also intensified efforts to organise briefings for target groups to counter lies raised by the opposition.
Apart from distributing brochures and organising talks, the Penang BN had also made optimum use of the new media, including blogs and short messaging service to reach a bigger audience.
On contesting the Balik Pulau parliamentary seat which he lost in the 2008 general election, Dr Hilmi said it was up to the party leadership.
