SHAH ALAM - The Selangor government has not received more information about the detention of a man, believed to be the ex-boyfriend of Elizabeth Wong, the State Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment Committee Chairman.
"Information received by the state government was based on reports from newspapers and news portals," Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said when commenting on reports of the man's detention by Indonesian authorities last Friday.
A local English daily on Wednesday reported that Batam Immigration Department confirmed that a Malaysian man was detained on suspicion of possessing false travel documents.
The man known as Azmin Helmi, 37, was detained for investigation for seven days, according to newspaper reports.
He is wanted by Malaysian police to facilitate investigation into Wong's semi nude photograph on the Internet in 2009.
Khalid said he would continue to monitor developments and hold discussions with PKR Political Bureau that was scheduled to meet on the issue yesterday.
"Unfortunately, it (the meeting) was cancelled as Anwar will only be back (today)."
PKR will hold discussions to assess the issue and will make its view public this week.
Khalid also said the state's treasury reserves at end 2011 rose to over RM1.9bil compared to less RM500mil in 2007.
However, the state treasury report, including its reserves, have not been audited by the Auditor-General's Department.
