Wednesday, 08 February 2012 00:16

CAMERON HIGHLANDS -- The granting of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), 1Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M) and the RM100 student aid are not aimed at fishing for votes in the coming general election, said Umno Information chief Ahmad Maslan.

On the other hand, he said the various forms of aid were solely to help reduce the burden of the people.

"They (opposition) run down Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak in their talks by saying all assistance this year are for the coming general
election," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after an Information Session organised by Kampung Raja Umno branch, here yesterday.

He said the success of the government in implementing various forms of assistances such as BR1M and the RM100 student aid had incurred the jealousy of the opposition causing them to slam the government with accusations and slanders.

"The assistance was given to all races based on the principle of People First, Performance Now and the aim is to reduce the people's burden.

"The transformation brought by Najib today is beginning to make the opposition lose its direction as the people caring programme by our leaders was effective and resulted in the opposition making wild accusations as they are doing now," he said.

Ahmad Maslan said the transformation introduced by the government had forced the opposition to create various new issues to poison the minds of the people.
