KUNAK - Umno vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal advised the Malays and bumiputeras to stick with Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) to strengthen unity.
He said Sabah Malays and bumiputeras who were split into Usno, Berjaya and Parti Besatu Sabah were reunited under Umno after the party spread its wings to Sabah.
"They can't revive Usno as it had evolved into Umno after its leader joined the party. We have to remain united if not some people will try to revive Berjaya. This will be bad for Muslims in Sabah," he told reporters after attending the Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat programme here on Monday.
He was commenting on efforts of certain people to revive Usno led by veteran politicans Datu Mustapha Datu Harun and Sakaran Dandai.
Earlier, the Rural and Regional Development Minister said Semporna Chinese were strong supporters of BN giving over 90 percent support during elections.
"Continued Malay-Chinese cooperation will bring development to the district," he said at the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a RM3.85mil multipurpose hall of SJKC Nyuk Hwa in Semporna on the initiative of Semporna Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Shafie announced RM200,000 aid for the multi-purpose hall and praised the school board for improving infrastructure as it will not only benefit Chinese students, but also about 60 percent Malay students.
