Felcra warns opposition over alleged bashing

Tajuddin_AbdulRahmanKAMPUNG GAJAH (Perak) - Felcra Berhad (Felcra) on Friday warned of legal action against any opposition party leader who commits slander or manipulates facts pertaining to the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority.

Its chairman, Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (left), said he issued the warning because the opposition had allegedly begun to organise "ceramah" (talks) where they raised trivial issues to tarnish the image of the Felcra management to incite the people to hate the Barisan Nasional government.

"I will not hesitate to take firm action against any opposition leader who tries to twist facts about the Felcra management," he told reporters after launching a "gotong royong" (self-help) programme at the Seberang Perak Felcra, here.

He said it had been detected that the opposition was trying to manipulate facts to portray Felcra as a bankrupt entity, just as it had done with Felda.

Tajuddin said Felcra was financial strong as it had issued dividends totalling RM3.6 billion to 94,000 settlers so far.

Felcra had not neglected development in states administered by the opposition, he said, adding that the entity had cultivated 4,046 hectares of oil palm at a cost of RM300 million in PAS-ruled Kelantan at the request of the menteri besar, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat. - Bernama
