Sharizat Should Step Down To Fight NFC Allegations
Thursday, 09 February 2012 13:58

Gerakan Deputy President Chang Ko Youn today said that the relentless campaign of vilification launched by Pakatan Rakyat against Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Sharizat is unfair and cruel.

"I have much sympathy for Sharizat who has been made to face this kind of grotesque attack. Based on what she said, perhaps she is not part of the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) and all persons must be treated as innocent until proven guilty," he said.

He also added, "It also goes against the basic grains natural justice to condemn someone on the basis of unproven accusations and unsubstantiated evidence. Nevertheless, her family members must robustly explain their side of the story to dispel any doubt created by the mammoth allegations and copies of document produced. Being public figure, one is subject to scrutiny."

He also said, "However, in the interest of BN, I hope Sharizat will have the magnanimity to vacate her position as a Minister in the Cabinet and focus her energy on combating this PR assault on her family. She can return to the cabinet after this episode is over and her name is cleared."

Chang is of the opinion that it is a sacrifice on her part, no doubt, and it is a wise move to save BN from unnecessary attack. BN must be freed from unwanted implications. The burden arising from the NFC will only undermine the image of BN.
