The constant hyping over Barisan Nasional Coordinator for Selayang Jessie Ooi’s question during the debate between MCA President Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng last Saturday seems to be an attempt to rub salt into the wound while at the same time trying to divert attention away from the fact that Guan Eng had failed to answer certain questions directed at him.
The unclear response given by Guan Eng should be the main focus during the debate, but why are Pakatan Rakyat supporters keeping quiet about this and are instead targeting Jessie Ooi? Is it because she is a coordinator for Barisan Nasional?
During the debate, Chua Soi Lek had asked Guan Eng to explain the socio-economic model which will be implemented by Pakatan Rakyat and their methods on achieving the objectives of becoming a high-income nation, but Guan Eng had only given a brief response with no clear explanation or strategy. This move of his is a confusing one.
Jessie Ooi has already issued a statement clarifying certain points, and explaining that there was a misunderstanding of her questions, but what about Guan Eng’s failure to respond on the socio-economic model? This is something which the public should be worried about, as he had failed to respond to this during the debate which is an important platform to air his views.
Instead, Jessie Ooi has become the victim, and Pakatan Rakyat supporters had taken the opportunity to stoke the fire. This shows that they are using dirty tactics to try and protect Guan Eng, which is proof of the low standards of Pakatan Rakyat supporters who will do anything to win, such as adding fuel to create hostility towards their political enemies.
Instead of wasting their time insulting and criticizing Jessie Ooi, Pakatan Rakyat should instead sit down and focus on their social-economic model of governance. Even though the debate is over, but they cannot hide the fact that they are lacking in ideas on how to govern the nation.
