RTD man pleaded not guilty to misusing power

SHAH ALAM -  A Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) officer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here Wednesday to using his position as the North Port verification station master to register a luxury car to his brother's name.

Mohd Yusoff Ahmad, 42, is charged with using his position to order vehicle inspector Mohd Khadri Khalim to confirm the index number of a Mercedes Benz C200 car without going through the necessary procedure for imported vehicles.

Following which, the car was registered to his brother, Abdul Ghani Ahmad, with registration number JKT 615 at the RTD branch office in Muar, Johor, on Jan 22, 2008.

Mohd Yusoff is alleged to have committed the offence at the RTD office at the North Port verification station in Port Klang on Nov 7, 2007

Judge Mat Ghani Abdullah allowed Mohd Yusoff to be released on a bail of RM5,000 in one surety and set March 15 for mention.

Suit against rocker Amy

In KUALA LUMPUR, the hearing  at a Sessions Court here of a negligence suit against Amy, of the rock band Search,  has been postponed to March 11.

amy-searchThe suit was filed by a customer at the rocker's Restoran Cheng Ho in Wangsa Maju on behalf of his four-year-old son who was allegedly scalded by tom yam soup.

Lawyer Shahrul Azim Azmi, representing the the 51-year-old singer, whose real name is Suhaimi Abdul Rahman, told the media outside the court that the hearing was postponed because judge Sabariah Othman, who would hear the case, was attending a seminar in Malacca.

On Sept 24, 2008, Nik Zahir Nik Mohd Idris filed the suit on behalf of his son, Nik Muhammad Zakwan.

He claimed that an employee at the restaurant was negligent, causing Nik Muhammad Zakwan's back to be scalded.

In the suit, Amy, as owner of the resraurant, was named  the defendant.

On Jan 30 last year, Sabariah allowed an application by Amy to quash the suit, but it was set aside by the High Court on Oct 26 last year.

The HighCourt ordered the case be remitted back to the Sessions Court for trial. - Malaysian Mirror
