KUALA LUMPUR– MCA vice-president Dr Ng Yen Yen confirmed on Tuesday she will defend her post at the party's elections on March 28.
"I will defend it and I will co-operate with anyone," she told reporters when replying to a question at a tourism news conference, here.
Ng was among the 22 MCA central committee members who resigned last week to pave the way for the fresh party polls.
The Tourism Minister was one of the four vice-presidents elected at the last party elections in October 2008.
DPM hopes MCA will be stronger
In another development, Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin said he leaves it to the MCA to resolve their internal problems.
He said the Barisan Nasional is confident that the MCA has the experience and leadership to deal with its own affairs.
"I hope the elections on March 28 will materialise," he told reporters after launching a 1Community 1Cooperative programme here Monday.
Muhyiddin, who is deputy Prime Minister, was asked to comment on the party's leadership crisis that has now split the party into three camps - each aligned to party president Ong Tee Keat, former deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek and former vice-president Liow Tiong Lai.
He hoped the MCA would emerge stronger after the polls. — Malaysian Mirror
