KUCHING – The internal problems in the Sarawak DAP continues. Disgruntled state assemblyman for Batu Lintang, Voon Lee Shan, has alleged that there was "almost fighting" at Saturday night's meeting among the Kuching branches here.
Although Voon was not present at the meeting, he wrote on his blog that there was almost chairs flying and rude young members who had no regards for the veterans.
However, chairman of Batu Lintang branch Kuang Siew Mei, and her vice-chairman Tan Teng Kuang, along with DAP secretary-general of state Chong Chieng Jen explained that there was no commotion as alleged by Voon.
Kuang said Voon alleged that he did not know about the Saturday meeting, thus he was not present. She claimed that it was her who had informed Voon about the meeting but Voon had alleged that if the meeting was about him, he would refused to attend.
Series of attacks
After the DAP convention meeting in Sibu last December, Voon was ousted out of the state central committee in which he held the Treasurer post.
He was alleged to have wanted to topple chairman Richard Wong. After being voted out, Voon had gone into a series of attacks against the DAP which he claimed was conspiring to remove him. He alleged that it was Chong who wanted to topple Wong and not him.
Chong said the Saturday meeting was to explain to the 40 odd members the allegation and "twisted facts" posted on Voon’s blog and FaceBook.
While talking, he was constantly interrupted by pending chairman Poh Bee Chiew, who is aligned to Voon. Chong said some younger members shouted at Poh to keep quiet first and hear him out.
Chong said he told the younger members to wait outside as he did not want any quarrel.
“They went and the meeting went on smoothly. Even after it ended, Poh stayed with us to chat for a while,” he added.
“It is an internal matter and should remain so,” said Chong.
