Tuesday, 09 March 2010 11:16

THE illicit affair of Singapore's most successful film-maker Jack Neo and a 22-year-old model Wendy Chong were carried prominently in most Chinese dailies today..

Most gave front-page coverage while Sin Chew Daily even put the story on its centrespread.

According to the dailies, model Wendy Chong met Neo when she was given a role in Money No Enough 2 some two years ago.

The "couple" had sex in Neo's car a month later.

"After that, he carefully checked the car for any strands of hair and adjusted the seat back to its position,'' said Chong.

jack-neoShe added that her instinct told her that Neo had done such an act many times.

She said they had sex twice a week, either at her home or in his car.

Suspected Neo cheated on her

Neo's extra-marital affair was exposed after Chong went to his home and demanded to talk to his wife Irene Kng on Friday.

She chose to do so as she suspected Neo had cheated on her.

A "table-talk" which involved Chong's family and Neo's friends, was held at a hotel restaurant.

While on his way, Neo answered a telephone call from a reporter.

When he realised that the media had got wind of the affair, he told the reporter: "That's the end of my career.''

"I have no intention of destroying anyone. I believe he really loves me but for what had happened, I do not think our relationship could carry on anymore,'' Chong said.

The 50-year-old film director-actor regretted what he had done and apologised to his wife as well as the model's father.

Neo and his family moved to stay at a hotel to avoid being "disturbed" by others.

Neo and his wife has four children, aged between six and 19.

Initiated split on 30 occasions

Meanwhile, The New Paper reported that Wendy Chong claimed she initiated a split on 30 occasions but Neo persuaded her to hang on.

She said: "Jack trusted me and even gave me his e-mail password. But one night, while we were chatting over the phone, he said he was hanging up as he had to sleep. Later, I learnt he was having an online chat with a female scriptwriter.

Chong said the romance started fizzling out when Neo started making Where Got Ghost? "Our phone chats and meetings became less and less often. During the first few months of our affair, he spent his weekends with me. But after some time, he told me his weekends would be reserved for his family."

TNP said Neo tried to regain her trust by keeping his handphone turned on even during his production meetings.

'I shouldn't have continued affair'

But the freelance model also told a Chinese paper that she regretted letting her affair with Jack Neo drag on for two years.

She told Shin Min Daily News: 'The last two years has been tumultuous for us, ending with both of us deeply hurt and scarred.

'I feel I have grown up a lot overnight. Previously, I didn't give a damn to anything else in the pursuit of love. I just wanted to possess him, regardless of whether I was right or wrong. And I got myself into a mess.

'I now realise I was wrong and I have hurt many people. I shouldn't have gone into an affair in the first place, shouldn't have fallen in love with him.

'Acting is my life'

Before the affair was exposed, Wendy Chong wrote in her now defunct blog http://smile2wendy.blogspot.com that "I think I’m lovely, smart, daring, very very imaginatve and i don’t love talking to strangers".

"Most importantly, there’s one thing i will never give up no matter how hard it’ll be or how many rejections i’ll go through, and that's acting. Because to perform, to act is not just a dream, but my life. It keeps me going even when life is down. I can only see the real me when I’m performing. It’s when I'm truly enjoying life".
