THE much-awaited Malaysian Amateur Close (MAC) is back with another set of exciting golfing action. Promise to deliver a full punch of challenges.
The 44th Malaysian Amateur Close 2010 is now calling for participation from all golfers in and around Malaysia.
Slated to tee-off at the Championship Course, Danau Golf Club, UKM Bangi, the three-day tournament, which starts from May 4 is one of the Qualifying Rounds for the 108th Malaysian Amateur Open Championship.
Last year's MAC saw young gun, Gavin Kyle Green emerge top with Haziq Hamizan trailing closely. Gavin carded a spectacular three-under par 213 total to be crowned champion of the tournament, while Haziq settled for two-under-par 214. Meanwhile in women's category, overnight leader Joanne Akep Siran Lagan from Miri managed to bag the trophy despite the high score of 13-over-par 229.
The MAC 2010 is open to all who are amateur golfers with USGA Handicap Index of 7.3 for men and 11.5 for women.
However, non-NHS Clubs and overseas golfers with a maximum Handicap of 8 and below for men and 12 and below for women are welcome to join with a copy of certification upon registration.
Make the cut, no fees
All participants are required to register by completing the Official Registry Form and submitting it to the Tournament Office no later than Saturday, May 1 with entrance fee of RM350.00 per person.
So far, 68 local amateurs from as far as Sabah have confirmed their participants.
The top 15 men and 11 women, excluding members of the National Team, will qualify to take part in the Malaysian Amateur Open at Damai Laut Golf & Country Resort from May 20 - 23, 2010.
Those who make the cut will be exempted from paying the entrance fee.
Other qualifying rounds for Malaysian Amateur Open are the Sarawak Amateur Open, which was held at Kelab Golf Sarawak April 2-4 and the Sabah Amateur Open at Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club from April 23-25.
